Our team had the opportunity to support the Environment Agency with a vital environmental restoration project—removing a large fallen tree that had been obstructing the flow of Carr Brook, which runs behind the town of Kirkham in Lancashire.
Access to the site was only possible on foot due to prolonged waterlogged conditions across the floodplain. After patiently waiting several months for water levels to drop, we were finally able to reach the site and begin the task—removing the tree by hand and carrying it out piece by piece.
While on site, we also took the opportunity to remove accumulated litter from the brook in an effort to help restore it to its natural state and improve the local ecosystem.
It was a physically demanding but highly rewarding effort. Thanks to everyone involved for their perseverance, teamwork, and good humour—even when one of us took an accidental dip!
